Big Ono Bake Shop is Open

Big Ono Bake Shop is now open at the corner of Front Street and Gayoso in the old Pie in the Sky space. This is a Hawaiian themed bakery (Ono means "delicious" in Hawaiian I was told) and their menu includes such offerings as lava rolls, hula breads and volcano loaves. I spoke to the super nice owners who told me they had just opened this past Wednesday. They bake everything on site so it's fresh. I had a cranberry orange scone which was surprisingly light and had a great flavor. They also have Hawaiian coffee and a variety of desserts and cookies. Their hours printed on their menu are Monday - Friday 6am - 3pm.

I have never been to Hawaii, but would love to go there, you are lucky to be able to taste these nice things. Please think of me when you go there.

Do they have anything with poi? When I was in Hawaii they put poi in some of their pastries and it was sooo good!

I was fortunate enough to taste a variety of the Big Ono's delicious baked goods recently. If you like breads and pastries, then you've gotta get over to this new place. Whole wheat Hawaiian Bread and cinnamon rolls? Oh man, they do it right.
