Sixty Six

66 Pontotoc

I realized recently that on my walks and runs downtown I pass by four addresses numbered 66. I think that's weird.

It got me thinking about the number six. I went to one of those flaky numerology websites and found the following:

Six represents equilibrium; harmony - balance. It is the perfect number within the decad: 1+2+3=6. It is the most productive of all numbers.

It symbolizes union of polarity, being represented by the two interlaced triangles, the upward- pointing as male, fire and the heavens, and the downward-pointing as female, the waters and the earth.

Six is the symbol of luck; love; health; beauty; chance. It is a winning number.

In old Persia, 7 is the symbol of harmony (refer to new year ceremonial). Apparently in China I understood that 8 is playing this role : olympic games started on 08/08/2008 at 08 PM 08 mn 08 sec...
Most probably to adjust with local habits M. Phelps won 8 gold medals...
by the way do you know the French film 8 femmes ???

K & M,
I did refer to some of the Persian New Year traditions and discovered the following: Haft Sīn (هفت سین) or the seven 'S's is a major tradition of Nowruz. The haft sin table includes seven specific items starting with the letter 'S' or Sīn (س) in Persian alphabet). The items symbolically correspond to seven creations and holy immortals protecting them.

No doubt Phelps did want to keep the theme of 8 in China - Americans are always willing to respect local customs.

I have seen 8 Femmes!

I am so impressed...how did you manage to write in Persian alphabet ? do you have a special keyboard for that?
you had difficulties with ö or ü for Turkish names but apparentlty not with the Persian alphabet...
You are absolutely accurate about Nowrooz celebrations starting on March 21st (first day of spring).
