Orleans on Front, a new restaurant at 94 S. Front in the old Cayenne Moon space, has opened. It looked like the new signage was being worked on today. Their focus is seafood; some of the items on their menu are Mississippi Delta Catfish, Crab Cakes, Shrimp & Grits, Oysters, Jambalaya, Gumbo and Andouille Red Beans & Rice. They are open for lunch Tuesday - Friday and dinner Tuesday - Saturday. They have beer and are working on getting their liquor license this week. The owner plans on having a jazz bar downstairs as well.

'Orléans' is famous for its ' Duke of Orléans ' (ref to your logo) (I did not say its 'duck')and also for its annual Floralie (a huge flower fair) and There is no sea around for hundreds of miles. You need then to ask why they chose this menu ?

K&M,
Maybe the owner is from New Orleans which is famous for, among other things, it's southern seafood creations with a cajun twist.
K & M,
A reason for choosing this menu could possibly be to bring his heritage & the food that he loves to Memphis? God forbid we have another bbq place or burger dump downtown.
Memphis has popular sushi bars, but there is no sea around for hundreds of miles. Do you think that they could possibly get seafood flown in the way that the sushi bars here do?
Good luck with your endeavor, Orleans on Front. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully will get a chance to stop by this weekend. I think the menu looks great
You are both right...
The logo (from duke of Orleans flag) has most probably misled me....
It is true that those days with planes you can do lot of things.

After reading about Orleans on Front in your blog, I tried it last night. We were just sitting down when the table beside got up said they has waited an hour for food, never got it and left. Oh how I wish I gone with them. There were more servers than customers and we still waited an hour for our food, and we didnt get all of it then. The place was hot the food was not. AWFUL
That's too bad and there's no excuse for service that deficient. I would have hoped the manager would have tried to make it right but I guess that did not happen. Many times this scenario is the case in a new restaurant trying to get their staff (in this case it sounds like kitchen staff is the issue) right and everything flowing the way it should. I hope they improve. I have not been there yet to see for myself. Thanks for your comments.
Orleans on Front has an excellent menu for cajun flavors as well as a delicious steak with seafood. The Stuffed Red Fish is to die for! Any new beginning has unforseeable episodes. I believe anyone brave enought to follow his dreams this day and time deserves second chances on service...I have eaten there 3 times and service has been great.
Best of Luck Orleans!
