David Lynch, "Beale Street Southside" posted with artist's permission
The South Main Trolley Tour is this Friday night 6 -9 pm and finally the weather should be gorgeous with a predicted high of 80 and clear, sunny skies. Perfect for strolling down Main and wandering in and out of galleries and shops. I like to think of it as the Memphis passeggiata and I wish we could do this more than once a month.Among the many wondrous things you can see and do is the See the Difference Interiors Grand Opening at 431 S. Main. They are featuring the works of artist David Lynch, including 5 originals. There will also be a few signed-limited edition posters for sale. Meet the artist and See The Difference designers Diane Gordon and Becky Beaton.

On a slightly more serious but nontheless exciting note are the renovations happening at the Cossitt Library at Monroe and Front. I thought initially that the renovations would be limited to interior work but judging from trucks that were out there yesterday it looks like ye olde eyesore is getting a more comprehensive overhaul than I thought. Great! Might it have a little something to do with their soon to be next door neighbor the U of M Law School?
And for Earth Day, some green tips taken from http://www.thedailygreen.com/ and http://www.thegreenguide.com/
- Reduce your speed to 55 mph from 65 mph may increase your fuel efficiency by as much as 15 percent; cut it to 55 from 70, and you could get a 23 percent improvement.
- Buy at your farmers market. Buying local not only saves energy used to ship produce, but also preserves flavor and nutrients.
- Tone down the take-out. Cooking just one more dinner and packing just one more lunch a week will have a big impact on unnecessary waste and will save you money.
- Save money by investing in a reusable water bottle, such as a BPA-free Klean Kanteen stainless steel bottle or an aluminum Sigg bottle.
- Try a "green" nail polish such as the soy and corn-based Priti and the water-based Suncoat, which hydrates the underlying nail and is available in 32 colors. Bright polishes from ToeShades require no remover to take off: They simply peel away. Conventional nail polish often contains the solvents toluene and amyl, butyl and ethyl acetate, which are known neurotoxins.
