My grandmother's birthday was this past Saturday. She turned 97. I thought I'd share a couple of photos of her from back in the day. The one below takes the cake, truly. She's also a Memphistanista and has seen all of the changes this city has been through for practically a century.

Block Party; Movie Series; Sunset Symphony; Redbirds; 5K's; Turning 97
It's mid-May and another BBQ Fest has come and gone with it's teams, pork, smoke, mud, beer and general party chaos. So, what are we looking forward to downtown now? There's no lull in the action. The Orpheum Summer Movie Series kicks off this week with Breakfast at Tiffany's on Friday, May 22nd. Sunset Symphony , Memphis in May's swan song, is this Saturday night, May 23rd in Tom Lee Park. The Redbirds play home games tonight and tomorrow night and will be back to play a few more home games at the end of the month. This Thursday is the date for the second in a series of three Block Parties being held on Main Street from Gayoso to Peabody Place. Of course, the South Main trolley tour is coming up on May 29th. June brings two really fun 5K runs held downtown, the Harbor Town 5K on June 5th and the Gibson 5K on June 13th.

Your grandmother was (and I'm sure still is) a cutie! Happy Birthday to her!
I have seen the first photo, but what is the second one all about?
Megan,
Thanks!
Sparkling,
She said "the boys were shipping out". That's all she'd say.
Happy birthday to your grandmother!
I have my fingers crossed for good weather this weekend; we're planning on going to the Sunset Symphony for the first time ever and I do NOT want to miss it!
Thanks Emily!
