Almost all of the unique gifts sold at the bookshop are hand-crafted by local artists or by artisans from developing countries around the world. The bookshop does business with SERRV International, a fair trade non-profit organization which has been working for sixty years to eradicate poverty around the world. They also carry Thistle Farms products, made by the women of Magdalene House in Nashville, Tennessee. The Thistle Farms Winter Survival Kit, for example, would make a nice gift I think.
Also, on Friday, December 17th from 5:30 pm - 9 pm Red Fish Gallery at 356 N. Main Street will host a Christmas Party and most items will be marked 25% off - cards, artwork, jewelry and more.
I mentioned it before a few weeks ago but it's worth mentioning again, The National Ornamental Metal Museum's Holiday Show and Sale through January 9. The Cathy Talbot flower pendant above can be found there, colors vary.
