Croix-Rousse

Late this afternoon I was in Croix-Rousse, which is the historic neighborhood where the silk workers lived and also the name of one of the two big hills that loom over the city. Today its narrow, winding streets and seemingly endless network of stairways are the backdrop to an eclectic and artsy quarter. The markers pictured under the street signs in the first five photos are found throughout the area and point the way to various traboules.

Some of the color, views and stairs I came across today in Croix- Rousse...

The artwork looks similar to that seen in larger cities. Some of it has that "gang" look to it. The stairs and terrain seem very pretty.

I love stairs - it's a good thing.
