Go ahead and play the video so you have the appropriate background music for this post. The Opera has been hosting outdoor jazz concerts in their portico all summer and we finally had a chance to go tonight to listen to some Latin jazz. The music was great but the odd circumstances surrounding this particular night were, well odd. There was the nice music, the nice food but also there was a group of Syrians protesting Bashar al-Hassad just in front of the opera, their shouts competing with the music. And just as the music and the protesters hit their stride(s) a thunderstorm rolled through and poured rain, forcing many of the protesters into the portico. So, it was a melange of Latin jazz, charcuterie platters, Syrians and storms. God Bless.
